Lake Effect was part of a complete building transformation that was purchased by Valparaiso University, from a private owner, to renovate the entire space for the nursing program. This location provides hospital bed simulation of patients, allowing nursing students to practice their skill prior to entering the real hospital rooms. Specific labs and classrooms utilized virtual learning with 2 way audio and video communication, so that each student can be assessed from a control room as they are learning how to deal with a patient in the simulation hospital room.
This building also has all the technology capabilities on the campus, including being networked into the University wide mass notification system and fire alarm system.
